Wow! I never thought of putting food in a paper bag!!! What a genius idea! Don't know if he'll go for it, but who knows, especially if it's a different food than the kind that he ate when his stomach was hurting so badly.

He's been so pooped out that he doesn't respond too much to a lot of enticing. we have a cool feather duster and a ferret-teaser, which the others love. He'll walk over and investigate, but not much more. I've been thinking of things I can make to drag across the floor to see if that would get him going. Right now he plays for a short while then collapses and takes a nap. maybe that's just the weight because he's way too fat.

For getting him back on regular food when he is ready and the vet okays it try putting some kibble inside a paper bag. Pretend that you don't know it is there. Let him "steal" it and eat it "secretely". Don't "discover" that he is eating it till he has been eating a decent bit of it for at least a few days and then praise him to the skies but continue to let him be sneaky for a while longer. That is a very effective trick which uses natural mustelid behaviors to advantage.

Stomachs are part of a hormonal feedback loop. and a stretched one or an irritated one (or in his case both together) will be putting out larger amounts and feeling hungry even sometimes when it shouldn't.
