I also have an "allergic" ferret. Two years ago, his left hind foot lost
all the hair up to the top of the hock and was totally bare. Vet treated it
with pred for 2 weeks and it went away. This past October, he again lost
all the hair on the one foot and it was very red and all the toes were
swollen. She put him on Baytril and pred. All went away again. Two months
later, it came back and we have only been treating it with 1 ml of pred once
daily - nothing else. It seems to keep it in check but cannot seem to find
the source - as soon as I lessen the dosage, the foot then begins to redden
and swell again. I have changed litters to a paper litter and changed foods
twice. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? I'm stumped. Gail
