Hi,

I don't think you are just anthropomorphizing. I
think our little weasels understand a great deal.
Yes, bring Seti with Pan to the vet.

Seti will likely be very depressed for a while after.
How much it affects him really varies with each ferret
and their personality, so there is no way any of us
can judge. Give him lots of love and attention, as
much as you can, and hope for the best.

The issue you are now facing is why I believe ferrets
are best in groups of three or more. If there is
another ferret they are bonded to it seems to make a
huge difference in getting past the depression. Of
course, if you can dedicate huge amounts of time to a
ferret a single can work as well. Two, IMHO, is the
worst possible number.

Good luck to you and to Seti, and you certainly have
my sympathy regarding Pan's situation. We lost one
young (Ryo-Ohki, at three and a half, to metastasis of
adrenal carcinoma) and it is incredibly hard.

All the best,
Caity and the fantastic four
