Subject: Round Enlarged Left Kidney
Message-ID: <32570.1107447187598.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>
Yesterday, we took Clyde to the vet for 2 things, a Melatonin implant and because this past weekend we found a lump in his left side.
It was located between the rib cage and hip, low in the abdomen, upon X-ray, you could see the difference in location between the right kidney, which was higher up in the adbomen, and the left. You can also see the shape difference. It was amazing.
Now my questions are these:
1. What are some of the possible causes for this to happen?
2. What is normal procedure in cases like this for the vet to follow?
3. What kind of prognosis are we looking at in a ferret aged 7 to 8 years?
4. What is better, Ultrasound or the Dye Test?
5. What should be done by owners following test or surgery for kidney problems/removal?
Thanks everyone.
Mare
