My first question would be whether my vet felt he could remove it with, hopefully, clean edges. Losing the eye would not be a huge concern under these circumstances. I have two completely blind ferrets at my house and they do just fine. They both came to me blind and are able to navigate all over the house.
Many cancers can spread very quickly so I would think that time is of the essence. I would want to get that thing out of there!! :)
