The fur loss, smell change, and redistribution of fat to a pear shape are all common symptoms of adrenal neoplasia, the sort of situation where the vets we use would go in and would skip the imaging and skip the TN panel. What we would do beforehand is a CBC with CHEMISTRY PANEL, and in some ferrets also a chest x-ray to make sure that there is not heart disease present -- with the choice on that score made according to health and age.
