Terra,

I recently had a little female that ate a tremendous amount of hair during a coat change. She became very sick, eventually passing a mass of hair 4 inches long later that evening. She recovered and was adopted into a good family. Within a week, she was back due to suspicion of eating something else strange. My vet and I decided to take her to surgery looking for a blockage. We did not find any foreign material to speak of, but her abdomen was full of fluids, so much so that it ran out of her as soon as he made the incision. (sorry for being so graphic)

An exploratory revealed a huge tumor growing from her liver, which could not be removed due to the fragile condition of the entire organ. Based upon how sick she had been before surgery, all concerned felt a mercy shot best.

I am sure some tumors of the liver can be removed. You would just have to talk to your vet and make the decision to go in and see what is there.

Good luck to Boo and you,
Julie

> Boo has a tumor in his liver that the vet found during the adrenal surgery in Sept. 2004. ... We've tried to wean him off the cefadrops off and on since his surgery. But seems, every time we do his belly swells up like a balloon. ... Does anyone know if tumors in the liver can be removed or is it too risky? ...what I should talk to my vet about in the next visit or what questions to ask? . Any explinations and advice is appreciated.
