Yes, the rate of severe reactions to Purevax are much lower according to several vets here but that means that some still react. I am sorry that your ferret beat these bad odds.

Your vet did the exactly right first move! Epinephrine is the single most powerful medications to use. Replacing fluids, using steroids, using antihistamines follow. In almost all cases the individual does come around just fine, but some can wind up having neurological damage or even not making it. I am sorry that your little one is still not out of the woods and I hope that improvement follows.

You have a good vet. Did you know that in a study of human emergency rooms (in 2003?) it turned out that a very substantial number of the emergency physicians didn't realize the importance of epi and needed refresher courses?
