Subject: update on reaction to purvac vaccine

This turned into a big mess. Last night Big Al went home with my vet. Around
8:30 he vomited a lot of blood. My vet did something to help with this and I
know this sounds bad but it has slipped my mind what it was. After that he
did a turn around. He seemed more alert. I also took 3 others in with Big Al
for their distemper shot too. They seemed fine last night, tired but that was
it. This morning when I got up I noticed that Jazzy had hine end weakness
where she got her shot. She could not walk. She would try and fall over. She was
very weak and was not feeling well at all. Sammie was the same way, except
she could walk ok. Mookie showed signs of not feeling well, but seemed a little
more perky then the others. So we rushed them in to the vet. They are all
running a high temp of 105. Jazzy is very sore where the shot was
administrated. We could not believe that all 4 of them were affected. This is only Sammie
and Mookies 1st shot and Jazzy's second. My vet believes that this could be a
bad batch on the purvac.
Has anyone else experienced all their ferrets having a reaction at once? To
me this is so strange. We nearly lost Al, and the other 3 are having a tough
time. They are all on antibiotics and pred. right now. This has scared me to
death, and I dont ever want to see them go through this again.
