Uli, Dr. Bruce Williams has written that true strokes are unknown in ferrets BUT they do get something which can present the same way: thromboses (thrown clots which can be caused by heart disease, kidney disease, lymphoma, and some other causes.

Neither of the ferrets we had who threw clots presented like your little one, but it is something which can be quite individual depending on where the clot lands; one of our's threw three -- each different from the others, and the other ferret was different still.

I just went back to the messages to review what you said and saw your follow-up post. We've has two with thoracic cavity lymphoma through the years. Yes, thoracic lymphoma can be so hard to spot and then it can suddenly produce massive symptoms, including cardiac ones, so part of what you are seeing could be from a thrombosis or from the effects of the lymphoma itself; there is just so much critical stuff close together right there.

I am so sorry that this has happened, Uli.
