This is a good reminder. I have always provided two water sources in each cage, a water bottle and a water bowl. Any water bottle can fall and/or break, regardless of quality or price. The water bowls are changed twice a day, the bottle every other day.
I am surprised to hear that they became so dehydrated in such a short period of time.
