He is concerned, stating that he has only dealt with one other ferret
with a murmur this loud in his years of practice. That one lived to 2
1/2 yrs before it just dropped one day with heart failure. We discussed
the different possibilities of what may happen to him as he gets older,
with heart disease and/or sudden death being the most probable. (We
would have to go to the nearest university with a vet school if we
decide to have an ultrasound done.) We realize that surgery will be a
risk, no matter when it is done but we can't leave him unaltered. I did
get to talk to the vet today and he doesn't feel that it would make any
difference as far as the ferret's size is concerned.
The little guy goes non-stop when awake so he obviously isn't
"suffering" from this right now!
