I have a 3.5yo male who had his left adrenal gland removed about a year ago.

His fur has recently started thinning out again, and although I am hoping it is for other reaons, I am preparing for the worst (having his right gland removed).

I have been reading through the archives, but wanted to double check a few things. Are these correct?

* Blood test needed to check electrolytes a few days after surgery, then a week, then a month, and so on.

* Sodium and potassium levels need to be checked: the levels I have (from Ferrets, Rabbits & Rodents 97) are 137-162 and 4.3-7.7 respectively.

* He will probably need to be on pred & florinef/percotin assuming the entire gland is removed

Is it best to assume the entire gland has been removed and start him on the meds immediately, or wait for his test results to see if he needs them?

Is cryosurgery or conventional surgery the way to go with right glands?

Any other information I should know?

thank you
(:
