My vet usually doesn't have me withhold food before
surgery, since she feels there is enough of a time
lapse between the time I drop the ferret off and
surgery. Ask your vet, though, since this may vary
with the ferret. Also sometimes if the vet treats
cats and dogs in addition to ferrets, the receptionist
may give the time frame for dog or a cat if they don't
realize it's a ferret.
