Subject: Help Live in a rural town and they dont know much about ferrets
Message-ID: <1798877.1109664219025.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

Dear anyone that can help!!!

Well I have had my buddy slinks (male ferret) for 5 years in July. Last Thu=
rsday or Friday I don=92t remember which. I had him out and playing and he =
was his normal self. I noticed he had lost a little weight but it was nothi=
ng drastic. So this morning Monday after having to be out of town. I came b=
ack home to give him a bath & Bailey (unknown age adapted from someone that=
couldn=92t handle ferrets) bathed bailey first because he got out of the c=
age and lied down next to it didn=92t think much of it thought maybe he jus=
t hadn=92t woke up completely. Went back in picked him and took him to give=
him a bath well when I got him wet and her fur was matted down I could see=
his bones he was really skinny and has lost allot of weight since last Thu=
rsday. He went from a ferret that bounces off the walls and will stop long =
enough to give me a kiss and off he goes to find the next thing that I will=
chase him for the next 3 hours trying to get back, to a ferret that just s=
leeps and when I do get him out has trouble walking gets a couple steps and=
loses his balance and falls over.

I took him to the vet they did an x-ray and urine test. I am trying to borr=
ow the money from friends to get the blood work or from somewhere once I ge=
t the cash I will be getting his blood work. They did a urine annalist and =
said that was normal. Did an x-ray because the doctor thought he felt somet=
hing. Yet again nothing showed up so I know I need the blood work. His temp=
was 97.5 degrees. The vet said the walls of the intestine are enlarged and=
gave me chloramphenicol to dissolve in a syringe to 1cc and to give him a =
1/2 cc in morning and night. Also gave me nutria-cal to give to him.

Well 4 hours after giving him the stuff I noticed that his poop was runny b=
rown but kind of had some firmness to it. I saw him eat maybe 2 pieces of h=
is food. =

If there is any other information you need please just ask. I can=92t loose=
my buddy yet=85.

Please the vet himself said he wasn=92t sure because he doesn=92t deal with=
ferrets that much. If you can help me and slinks we would greatly apprecia=
te it.

Thanks for anyone=92s help James Morgan
