Subject: Hob with no smell + genetic problems

Hi,

I know a whole male ferret that has no smell. No smell associated with whole males can
be felt on him. I've heard somewhere (from not trusted sources) that this implies
that this ferret has breeding problems. Is this true? This hob was successfully mated
many times and has children.

Some of his grandchildren (from one of his daughters, one whole litter) has died, probably because of
Hyperthrophic Cardiomyopathy (I'm not sure about this diagnosis, it's just a rumour), do you know how
this disease appear? Is it a recessive genetic disease? Should both parents, or even grandparents be
altered? The owner of the father of the children argues that his hob has 13 litters, with about 100
healthy children and it shows his hob is healthy, the problem is with the mother's side.
I would argue with it if it's a recessive trait, but I haven't found much about it.

The same hob (with 13 litters) has at least one son with monorchidism (only one testicleis visible).
Do you know in which cases is it inherited, and if it's the father's or the mother's defect? There aren't
many information about the genetic background of this problem (or at least I could not find it).

Thank you in advance,
Gaba
