As mentioned, DIM is a possibility, but you didn't say anything about an elevated temperature. is it? Normal is in the 101-103 range. Also, what blood count is elevated? Since you mentioned possible infection, I assume WBC?

Definitely try to get him eating and the pureed kibble may help too. Anything to get him eating and not just a few bites a day. He needs enough to support him nutritionally. Most ferrets I've had would have no trouble finishing off almost a whole jar of chicken baby food in one feeding, even when not eating their regular food, unless deathly ill. Dehydration is a serious problem so make sure he's getting plenty of fluids. Food and water doesn't cure all ills, but he can't live without it.
