I haven't read on male pattern baldness in humans in some time but the last I read of that particular type the hormonal aspect was different. It wasn't so much a hormone level thing from what I read at the time, but more an inherited increased sensitivity in the follicles themselves after years of exposure to androgens, so not the same in humans as in ferrets unless there is new info. (BTW, women can have it, too, with a double dose of the genetics as the areas above my temples will testify...)
