It is far more common that he is straining to urinate than to poop.
I would have the vet check the bladder and prostate just to see.
The bladder should be enlarged/distended if he is straining to urinate.
Expression of the bladder or passing a catheter would confirm it.
An ultrasound may also help.

He is young, but adrenal gland disease with secondary prostate enlargement would be the more common cause of straining to urinate.
Then perhaps crystals, or stones in the bladder, to an infection of the urine.

Most of the ferrets with an intestinal blockage that I have seen, have had more GI symptoms, and many times just lethargy and no appetite.
Bad diarrhea may also cause some straining to poop, and then you would also see a bit of the rectum sticking out after he was trying.

Let us know how the vet visit goes.

I've been through a
lot with this little guy, and can't lose him now. I plan on calling his vet in
the morning, but any info would be greatly appreciated.
