Julie,

How many mg/ml? My 7 1/2 yr old (F, 1.5 lbs) has IBD (ulcerative colitis). When she's really bad she takes 2mgs a day. Usually w/ IBD you want to decrease the inflamation w/ a high dose of pred first and then wean it down over a period of weeks to the lowest dose to control signs. Now Scooter is on .25mg EOD and under control (knock on wood). Since Bear is only 2 I would try to figure out the lowest dose possible for him escpecially since it's a mild case. He may only need it a couple times a week. There are many side effects of corticosteroids including urinating/drinking a lot, increased hunger, wt.gain, ulcers, delayed healing time etc... But for ferrets I believe the good things outweigh the bad and most ferrets can tolerate very high doses.
