I took Yogi for a blood sugar test, and the vet's tester wouldn't even register it--which only means that it was somewhere below 50. Anyway, she's on 1 ml of pediapred now and doing great. (I divide it into three doses, though the vet didn't seem to think that was important. Folks on this list have way more experience with ferrets than she does.) Legs on the left side are still a little stiff, but she's active and alert, even put the weight back on.
Anyway, here's the question: At my first visit, the vet said that if this worked, we should try tapering off and getting her off the pred. This makes me nervous, because I just can't see cancer going away or not needing treatment anymore. I expressed this to her, and she said that Yogi "may" need to be on it for life, which is what I had assumed. What do you think? Try to take her off the pred, or raise objections?
Also, she eats her AD like a pig when I hold her and give it to her, but shows no interest in food otherwise. Please tell me that she'll start eating on her own eventually. I would really like her to get back to crunchy food, as I've heard that a soft diet is really bad on the teeth.
And someone mentioned herbal relief. I'd like to hear more about this.
Thanks,
Clover
