The growths can be incredibly small. A partial pancreatomy is often done in such a situation. Did you know that ferrets have the largest known pancreas size for body size? They tend to be able to spare soem without problems. Some vets use touch for the fine sand-grain like tumors and also a surgical microscope to be best able to pop out as many of the very tiny growths as possible.
