This question is two fold.

A friend of ours has a jill with urinary incontinence. The Vet is currently treating her for urinary tract infection, and testing samples for other options.

The first question is, is there any cuases of urinary tract infection ( or incontinence) that are easily transmittable to other ferrets.. ie: should she be isolated completely ? (currently lives in a seperate cage, but shares space during playtime)

secondly, what is the recommended "ferret safe" methods of preventing urine burns..as she is developing some sensitive areas now, and I suspect this will become more of a problem if the solution to the incontinence is not found soon. I have heard of vaseline, and baby diaper rash cream, but suspect ferrets would tend to lick it all off. Alternatively, are there some diets which may either relieve the condition or, lower the PH in the urine so that it is not so much of an irritant.

many thanks in advance
