Hi Ulrike.
I am very sorry to hear about Reno. I am not a vet, but a ferret owner
with ADV positive ferrets. Unfortunately, reading over the pathology
report you sent, it does sound like reports I have gotten on my kids who
have passes. And, the kidneys are one of the organs that frequently
fail with an ADV positive ferret. However, I hope that someone like Dr.
Williams or Dr. Murray, who has experience with ADV will comment on
this, as they will be far more able to give you more credible information.

In the meantime, you might want to read the following online article.
It has information about the clinical and pathological findings you
would expect with an ADV positive ferret.

I can understand how you must be feeling right now, having gone through
it myself, and my thoughts are with you. I hope that even if Reno did
have ADV, that your other ferrets will test negative. It does seem that
some ferrets either have a natural immunity to ADV, or are able to clear
the disease.

If you (or anyone else from this list) wants to contact me privately in
reference to ADV, please feel free to do so. Again, I am not a vet, but
I do have over 5 years experience of living with ADV, and I am always
more then willing to help others learn about avoiding ADV, or how to
live with it and make the ferrets' lives more comfortable.

I can also recommend the following websites for people who want to learn
