Hello everyone. Some of you may remember me...I just posted recently about =
my ferret Cody. I thought maybe he some illness causing him to be overly an=
xious. I spoke with the vet I work with (who I should add is not very ferre=
t savy) and she thought given his symptoms it quite possibly could be insul=
inoma. We were going to check his glucose, but none of the tech felt comfor=
table drawing blood on him, and frankly I didn't trust them too anyways! So=
, I made an appointment with a vet an hour or so from me who has done surge=
ry on my other fert before. He is a great ferret vet. I just don't see him =
on a regular basis cause he is so far away. I couldn't get in to see him fo=
r a week, so in the mean time we put Cody on a low dose of pred to see if i=
t helped any. I give him 0.5ml BID of the 5mg per 5ml prednisolone solution=
(pedia-pred). He has been on it for three days now, and I have noticed he =
has bad diarrhea now. I do give him the pred with about a 1/2oz of turkey b=
aby food, hoping that will help prevent ulcers. Has anyones ferts gotten di=
arrhea from pred before, or is it possibly from the baby food? I should add=
that Cody has a history of a sensitive tummy. Gets the runs easily. He's f=
ine with his kibble, and the only treat he can handle is the ferret chew st=
icks. His stool is a yellow-orange color and kind of gelatinous. He doesn't=
seem to really have the seedy of green poop. WHat do you guys think? Also,=
does pred make ferts tired? He seems sleppier than before, though maybe it=
s because I was used to him being up and scratching all the time, which I s=
hould say he hasn't done barely at all since the pred started. Thanks for t=
he help.
