That's a very individual thing. It can lead to lethargy because not enough blood is being pumped out of the heart...suddenly going flat ferret and having an irregular heart beat. A very unusual complication can be an "R on T" PVC which can throw the heart in V-Tach, which is a very dangerous rhythm, but this almost never happens. The only accurate way to know how frequent the PVCs are is to monitor the rhythm. A human would wear a monitor for 24 hours. No way a ferret would tolerate that even if the monitor were small enough. If the vet is worried about it, an EKG could be done periodically to follow up. Once again, your vet is the best source of judgment on your individual ferret.

Thank you, Sandra. This is a big help to understand what happened. Are there any visual signs that might alert an owner that it is an ongoing problem other than just stress from surgery? How might one 'watch' this condition?
