Thank you for the information. What confuses me the most about this is that when we got our first two ferrets in MN and had their first shots done, the vet who gave them their vaccinations took a look at the Marshall's shot record keeper and shook her head and said---"They don't need that many shots!" So Boo-Boo & Pixie never got another distemper booster 3wks after the first one because the vet told us not to.

All the fuzzies have an appt a couple weeks from now, so Pixie & Boo-Boo will be getting their yearly shots, whereas (supposedly) Tocho & Peanut are supposed to get the distemper (already had the rabies) shots and then go back in 3 weeks. We're confused as to what to do because, as I mentioned, the first two never had another distemper 3wks after the first.

So are Pixie & Boo-Boo protected from distemper despite the fact that they didn't get that repeat shot after 3 weeks, and should we just go ahead with getting Tocho & Peanut the two distemper shots 3wks apart?

Thank you for helping us clarify this.

I've heard that a number of veterinary surgeons are now saying that ferrets
and dogs
are being 'over' vaccinated with distemper shots and that they don't need to
be done
every year. My own vet only ever gives one distemper shot if a ferret is
over 12
weeks if they are younger they get the shots broken down into smaller doses.
