You really need to get Cody's glucose checked and you
may need to adjust his pred dosage. If the vet's
office machine is broken have them recommend another
vet who can do the test. Cody will remain stable when
his glucose is normal and will not be when it drops
too low. It really is that simple.

Please also note that some ferrets don't get much
benefit from pred. In each case where that was true
(three of our ferrets) our vet opted for surgery for
insulinoma. Podo had very successful insulinoma
surgery at age eight because there really was not much
else that would work for him. He lived for almost two
more years and never had insulinoma symptoms again
though we did have to start him on a low dosage of
pred about 10 months after surgery. You may want to
discuss surgery as an option with your vet if the pred
doesn't work for Cody.

The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet just
somoene who has been where you are a few too many
times.

All the best,
Caity and the fantastic five
