Last night was a rough night. I didn't sleep much at all. I really thought =
Cody had given up and was ready to cross the bridge. He refused to eat or d=
rink, and was sooo out of it. I called my boss at the animal hospital I wor=
k for at about 10pm and brought him up there. We got some blood to check hi=
s kidney's and overall cellular condition (we couldn't get much blood so we=
opted against a glucose to test the other things that the e-clinic didn't)=
His BUN was normal and He had slighlty elevated WBCs and increased bands i=
n his blood (hope that makes sense) which was believed to be from sepsis. M=
y vet also believed he might be just getting old and having his organs shut=
down. I wasn't ready to give up, so we decided to put him on sulftrim, in =
case there was a underlying infection. He had his frist dose at and 11pm. I=
didn't give him his pred, just in case. I was worried it would through his=
glucose even more off the charts. I layed the whole night with cody in his=
carrier on my bed. I kept my hand on him at all times to make sure he was =
still breathing. He urinated and deficated in the middle of the night. urin=
e looked normal...stool is just very runny, smelly brown. Well, it is morni=
ng now and cody is looking sooo much better. he is more alert, not dehydrat=
ed, and feisty when it comes to geting his meds. He also ate well for me. I=
didn't give him too much baby food in one shot, since he hadn't eaten in a=
while. i will try again soon. So, my good news is cody is doing better. I d=
on't want to say we are out of the woods yet, but he is hangin in there. Th=
e bad news is that we still have no clue what is going on. Any ideas????
