Subject: worried about giving pred
Message-ID: <6190279.1112566735361.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>
His everyone. Cody is still doing ok. He's a very sleepy guy right now. I h=
ave gotten him to eat baby food a couple times today. He is rooting aroud i=
n his cage more now, and seems much more alert than yesterday when he is aw=
ake. I know he isn't full blown diabetic...he didn't have any glucose or ke=
tones in his urine this morning when I tested it. Here is my concern...I am=
scared to give him the pred. He was never officially confirmed to have ins=
ulinoma. He never had a glucose done before he was started on pred. The vet=
I took him to said it was more likely to be lymphoma, and to just start hi=
m on pred. (This is not the vet I work for...this is a different one recomm=
neded by some ferret people). He didn't offer to check the glucose for me i=
n case....I should have insisted. Nothing I can do about it now though. I k=
now pred is the drug of choice for lymphoma as well, so I guess no matter w=
hat he should still be on it. I am just petrified to give it to him. I gues=
s I could do a really low dose tonight....like 0.05-0.1ml. What do you thin=
k?
Thank you so much for all of your support. I feel very alone in all of thi=
s, as I have I have talked to three different vets now and none of them hav=
e said the same thing really. I don't know what do to...I don't want to los=
e him, and I almost did last night. I will continue to keep those who are w=
atching informed on Cody's progress. Thanks again. Please say a prayer for =
him....
