Mary,
I'm sure you mean IBD. My ferret Scooter has ulcerative colitis. She has had 2 extremely bad bouts of severely bloody stool. Sometimes all she'd pass was blood! Pred usually is the treatment. Starting out at very high doses is the key then weaning them down to a dose low enough to control the clinical signs. You can also try changing her diet (sometimes it could be due to an allergy to the type protein in the food..ie:chicken. You need to try a novel protein). There is really no cure for it, just ways to keep it under control.
