Subject: Update on Cody

Well, first thing I want to say is that am I am exteremly happy with the ve=
t I brought Cody in to see today. She is wonderful, and I trust her judgeme=
nts. Things couldn't be better. As for Cody's health...his glucose was at 1=
00 today. I am going to keep him off the pred and check in again on sat bec=
ause we still can't quite rule out insulinoma. Lymphoma is probably not an =
issue here...his lymph nodes felt fine. They were probably just swollen fro=
m the infection in his system, which we are continuing to treat with sulfat=
rim. PCV was normal as was the rest of his blood values. Took x-rays. Thing=
s looked fairly normal. Looked slightly different by his spleen, and his he=
art looks rounder than normal, so the x-rays are being sent off to be seen =
by another vet who has more experience with them. Vet heard a grade 1 heart=
mumur on the right side, not sure about the left. So this is the verdict a=
t this point in time....no clue why Cody had an infection, but are treating=
with sulfatrim which is really helping. Still can't rule out insulinoma, s=
o checking glucose again on sat. And may have heart disease/heart problems.=
Overall, Cody is just an old ferret with old ferret diseases I guess (this=
vet guessed him to be about 7, which is older than I thought him to be). T=
he vets I work with and I are going to ultrasound him and maybe do an echo.=
I'll be posting some questions about that next...I just wanted this messag=
e to be an update for those who are interested. Cody is doing wonderful as =
well. Still a little sleepy, but definately feeling better. Now my task is =
to get him off the baby food! Little booger won't eat his kibble now! LOL. =
So my spirits are high, as are Cody's. I will continue to keep you all post=
ed on what is happening with him. Thanks you to you all for your care and c=
oncern. It means the world to me!!!!!
