Mary,

I know far too well about IBD and IBS. My husband has ulcerative colitis which is kind of weird that Scooter has it too! Like father like daughter. Usually the allergy is to the protien in the diet. You would need to do a food trial of feeding a novel protein and nothing else. There are so many new foods now. Z/D is definitely great but not every ferret does well on it (or cat or dog). There's also venison, rabbit, duck and even kangaroo! Also, the meat baby foods are good. Sometimes diet has nothing to do with it (just like in humans). Did he have IBD before you changed the diet? or did you change the diet bec. of IBD? Just wondering. If it's very bad right now your vet can give him a dexamethasone sodium phosphate shot...it's the only thing that got Scooter under control.

Serena
