Obie: a chronic infection can inflame the nodes and the spleen. With him going so very long and there never being a biopsy I tend toward chronic infection being his problem. One common one is helicobacter and you can read about that and more in

For Bandit: some ideas: possible infection (If there is coccidia then the Albon will be needed by all of the ferrets and very possibly other animals there.), possible partial blockage (foreign body, tumor, fur ball), possible IBD (straining to defecate). If IBD that particular ferret may have a food sensitivity or a food allergy which accounts for the improvement.
