You may have read a recent post of mine on the Central PA Ferrets list
about the 2 ferrets I rescued at the SPCA. When I brought them home, the
female had the sneezes really bad with expulsion of a clear liquid from
her nose but no watery eyes or anything else. Poor thing was sneezing so
hard that she was whacking her head off stuff. Then the boy got it. I
thought maybe it was distemper too or the influenza and took them to the
vet right away(have had them in quarantine right from the start from the
other ferrets because they came from the SPCA as suggested by our
vet). Chest was all clear and he stated it was indeed not distemper
because there was no other symptoms. They were put on Clavomox and had a
shot of antibiotic and also Dexamethasone and are better now. Ferrets can
get the flu and it can look like a cold and they also can have allergies or
sensitivity to allergens(dust, pollen, etc). Best of luck to you with all
your fukids.
