As for the 2nd article: there is a table with measurements in it that is concluded in the 2nd edition of Ferrets, Rabbits and Rodents (Quesenberry & Carpenter) too.

PS: At my university (I'm a vet-student) we usually don't anesthetize ferrets for an ultrasound
