Subject: Immune Mediated Disease?

This is new to me, one of my ferrets has had some tests done and the latest back is that he may have an "immune mediated disease." Is there anywhere I can get more information on these type of diseases in ferrets? He is on Pred and antibiotics (secondary bacterial infection) and is showing some improvement. I am looking for some resources to get myself more informed.
Anyone with experience with this type of thing with their ferret? Did they live very long, how was their quality of life?
