Subject: Bad news from ultrasound....cancer?

Cody just had his heart and abdominal ultrasound. Heart didn't show any signs of cardiomyopathy. Fluid was in the abdomin though (not enough to try a tap while awake) and the spleen looked abnormal. Not a smooth, dark contrast. It was very light with dark patches. We are going to sedate on Sat. and do a tap and possible exploratory. The vet suggested possible hemangiosarcoma given his history and radiographs. I feel awful putting Cody through all of these tests...it's so stressful for him. Am I a bad person? Has anyone ever dealt with this before? I am going to search the archives now. Thanks in advance for the help.
