My name is Marli and I live in Brazil. =

I have had ferrets for two years, now I have four ferrets and I am always l=
ooking for information that helps me give my little critters a better and h=
ealthier life. I cannot speak or write English and I use translators on the=
web to have access to sites and people.

I also try to help ferrets and people in Brazil by sharing the information =
I find in an MSN group, Fur=E3o Ferrets Brasil.

At the moment I am the one who is in need of help; one of my ferrets is sic=
k and I would like you to give me links, reports and advice to improve her =
chances.

Female sable blaze ferret, born on May 25, 2001, called Mel(Honey). Current=
weight 1.43 (650g) pounds, two months ago she weighed 1.65 (750g) pounds. =
=

History: This ferret was donated seven months ago and presented a small bal=
d patch between the lower back and the tail. Palpation exam did not show th=
e need for an ultrasonography, suggesting a vitamin deficiency. She is deaf=
and has a limp on her back limbs. X-ray showed an already healed fracture =
in that area.

She also had giardia when I got her and was treated for it, but always pres=
ented soft stools and flatulence.

Because of her age and my worrying, we began a check-up, blood and glucose =
tests were ready in two days, but it was not possible to collect enough blo=
od for the cortisol exam that would be sent to Cornell University. We will =
try again in a few days. =

Result of the ultrasound done on April 19, 2005:

Left kidney presents a hyperechoic image in the cortical region (retention =
cyst).

Right adrenal measured approximately 0.23 (0.58 cm) inches and the left mea=
sured 0.26 (0.65 cm) inches, with a homogeneous aspect.

In the right midepigastric region, an ovoid hypoechoic image was observed, =
with an approximate length of 0.87 (2.2 cm) inches (pancreatic alteration?)=
.=

In the left epigastric region, an ovoid hypoechoic image was observed, with=
approximately 0.35 (0.9 cm) inches (lymph node?)

There=92s adipose tissue in abdominal cavity.

I already thank whoever can help me.
