Petra, I have no experience with whole ferrets, but I'm sure, as Wendy said=
, a whole male nearby probably has a psychological effect on the other ferr=
ets. I don't know if this would cause a hormonal response, though my suspi=
cion is that it would not.

I would keep them well separated if for no other reason than their mental h=
ealth.
