Subject: Adrenal symptoms after adrenal surgery.

Our ferret Nanook had been showing adrenal symptoms of agression and problems urinating for 5 months. During this time we were treating with Lupron, Propecia and Melatonin. This past February his left adrenal gland was removed, while the right looked perfect. His symptoms cleared up, but both symptoms returned about 3 weeks later. He is currently back on Lupron, Propecia and melatonin.

The vet thinks that Nanook's brain and remaining adrenal gland need to 'get in synch', which could take 4 months or so. He wants to slowly wean him off of the meds. I'm very afraid that he will block again.

My questions are: How often is this hormonal re-balancing seen? And what are the chances that even though the remaining gland looked normal, it is diseased?
