When we personally have had ferrets develop palate ulcers they had two different causes: a GI disease, and kidney disease.

Treatment was needed for teh underlying cause, and out vet had us use a bit of Listerine on a cotton swab on them. They responded wonderfully to that combo. The Listerine really does help, but the underlying cause brings them back if left untreated.

Dr. Sue has mentioned other possible underlying causes of palate ulcers as well as these.

That trouble breathing also needs to be looked into.

Time for the vet to do some testing of the ulcer, a CBC with Cmeistry Panel, a urine check, and maybe also imaging.
