Subject: Sudden Onset of rectal bleed
Message-ID: <3089272.1114925047115.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

Three years ago we adopted a neglected ferret (Patches)-since that time, she has been treated at least four times for ulcers. A month ago we noticed she was gaining a significant amount of weight, but it was not distributed throughout her body. The vet ran tests and stated that she had developed a lot of fat around her internal organs. He recommended changing her diet, which we did and she slimmed down and became more active. Tonight, when letting her out to play, we noticed a significant amount of blood coming from her rectum. We took her to the emergency vet who was of no help. Our vet is not available for the next three days. Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? We are searching for a vet who knows something about ferrets until our vet returns but so far no luck.
Thanks
Doug
