Doug,

It could be many things. My first thought would be IBD (although the only way to know for sure is w/a biopsy.) If it is IBD and it is a significant amount of blood the only thing that has ever stopped my Scooter from bleeding was a Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate injection. Scooter was bleeding so bad it would just leak out of her anus. She became very anemic. Turns out she has ulcerative colitis. The dex sp cuts down the inflamation of the colon and helped almost immediately (realtively speaking). I would keep a close eye on Patches. If she starts looking pale I would take her back to the vet. I'm not saying it IS IBD but if it is this shot is worth a shot. (pun intended) Oh, if you really want to wait til your vet is available make sure she stays hydrated and try feeding an easily digestible diet (turkey baby food). The diet change doesn't always help but it can't hurt.
