Hi, Julie and everyone else,
There isn't any correlation I am aware of between
reactions to one of the available distemper vaccines
and the rabies vaccine. We've actually had more
reactions to rabies than to distemper, and the only
two anaphylactic reactions we had (Nyssa at age two,
Podo at age eight) were to rabies vaccinations.
I should also mention that if you've had a bad
reaction to one distemper vaccine (i.e.: Merial
Purevax) the same ferret may not react at all to
another (i.e.: Fervac-D). We've only had two
reactions to Purevax. In Ayeka's case we switched her
back to Fervac-D the following year and she had no
reaction at all.
