Hello, my name is Peggy Freeman. I am a ferret owner in Hampton, VA. My 6yr female ferret has been diagnosed with insulinoma. She has the blank looks and lethargy. She was health until sometime after January. She began to develop fluid build up in her adominal cavity. The vet told me that surgery was unnecessarily risky for her since she would not have long to live and placed her on prednisone 1 ml per day. The vets are familiar with ferrets, but are not experts in the animal. I would like some advice to help her at least be comfortable. I am very concerned about the fluid build up but do not want to have to put her through constant drainage procedures. If there is something I can do or someone I can see in the area that could provide better treatment, could you please tell me?
thank you
Peggy Freeman
