Insulinomas release insulin, thereby causing the low blood glucose problems. Diazoxide works by inhibiting the release of insulin from the pancreas.
Diazoxide doesn't work well in all ferrets. Probably because insulinomas are releasing insulin independent of any control factors that tells the pancreas to decrease insulin output.
