Clavamox is a combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulin. Amoxicillin is usually a first line of defense against populating (growing) infections. My understanding is that if this isn't strong enough to combat this, then one would add the Clavulin (in effect switching to Clavamox). I'm not a vet but am intimately acquainted with Clavamox/Amoxicillin because of Meeka's ongoing abscess, which hasn't come back lately (knock on wood) but she is on 0.2 cc Clavamox b.i.d. and will be for another month or so before another trip north to the vet college for a follow-up appointment with my personal miracle worker.
