I have had two ferrets get orange crusty spots on their skin. In fact, my =
Reagan has them now. In both cases, we initially tried a medicated shampoo=
, purchased from the vet, and it cleared up. You put the shampoo on, rub i=
t in, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, repeating once or twice a week. You=
r vet should have some shampoos for this condition. It's a relatively inex=
pensive, easy way to eliminate the easy stuff, and it may just work!

When I first posted I had mentioned that it looked like cradle cap that a
baby would get. I have the feeling that the shampoo you mentioned is
probably something along the lines of Selsun Blue or Head & Shoulders. I
think cradle cap and dandruf are both build up of excess cells on the scalp
and that's exactly what this looks like. I'll have to ask the vet when we
see her Friday.
