please bare with me i am new to this msg board.....

my mum and i have five ferts .... four girls and our little man.

Sadly crumpet our male albino was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy about a month ago. He has since then lost over half his body weight and gone completely anorexic. My mum took crumpet back to the vets yesterday and they decided the kindest thing to do is put him to sleep tomorrow morning. Although in reality i realise this is probably the right decision i cannot help wondering if we could do anything else. Crumpet is only one and a half years old and i have read of ferrets surviving for many months/years with the disease. does anyone have any experience with dilated cardiomyopathy or can anyone offer any advice/hope. i realise it is a serious condition but things have taken such a turn so much more quickly than i expected.

any thoughts would be appreciated ASAP.......
thanks
